Property in Almeria
A guide to property for sale in Almeria, Spain.
This
is one of the most virgin areas of Almeria within surroundings of incomparable
wild beauty consisting of a stretch of land and water that is full of
life.
Almeria is the province with the most hours of sunshine throughout
the year, with a total of approximately 3,000 hours. The average
annual temperature is l8/l9oC, and its waters in winter are warmer than
the air, and thus one can even enjoy swimming at that time of year.
Almeria's climate is subtropical, Mediterranean, warm and dry. Its
most outstanding characteristic is its cloudless and clear-blue sky.
Together with its arid landscape, survival appears as if it would be
a complete adventure. There are salt lagoons where a multitude of birds
and vegetable species, extinct in the rest of the planet, still survive
nowadays. Another landscape that contrasts with the aforementioned is
that which we can find along the banks of the river Andarax, where we
can enjoy the sight of palm trees, orange trees and all sorts of exotic
trees that cover the river channel into a marvellous wild garden.
There are three natural parks that extend their beauty
from the snow-covered mountains down to the desert area, through thick
woodlands: Cabo de Gata-Nijar National Park with its
deserted beaches, cliffs and beautiful marine life; Sierra Nevada
Natural Park, with all-year-round snow; and to the north, Sierra
Maria-Los Velez Natural Park, with its castle, cave paintings
and extremely rich fauna.
There is also a great diversity of natural beauty spots such as that
of Entinas-Sabinar Point, where flamingos and herons are to be seen
in the pools and lagoons; Tabernas Desert, where one can appreciate
the singular aridity of Almeria province; Sierra Alhamilla, whose pinewood
forest is a lung of oxygen for the province' and the Karsts in Yesos
de Sorbas, which is of great interest due to its geological, botanical,
landscape, and above all, speleologic (caving) aspects.
All these natural areas, together with Albufera de Adra nature reserve,
convert the Almerian landscape into one of contrasts, where one can
appreciate the dons that Mother Nature has bestowed upon these lands.
Due to its strategic location, Almeria, which opens
out onto the Mediterranean, was home to many different civilisations
throughout its history. This can be clearly seen from the archaeological
remains that are to be found throughout the province.
Costa de Almeria" is located on the southeast
coast of the Iberian Peninsula. It has more than 200 km. Of beautiful
beaches along its coastline, from Pulpi on the east coast, to Adra on
the west coast. The east coast is a stretch of land that extends from
the limits of Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park to the boundaries with
the province of Murcia. It is an area of virgin beaches with extremely
fine sand, and solitary nips hidden from view that are accessed on foot
or from the open sea; spectacular beaches with sand-dunes or rocky surface
areas. In these hidden areas, one can enjoy the pleasure of sunbathing
on the Mediterranean coast in total privacy. More than l00 km of untameable
coastline that offers landscaping of unbeatable beauty.
Although the visitor immediately thinks of Almeria as being a coastal
area, this Andalusian province is endowed with a splendid nature reserve
in its interior. This is something that makes it unique for visitors
to the area, their encounter with the unexpected.
Almeria is splattered with different types of landscapes
and regions, from Alta Alpujarra with its white villages, to the harsh
lands of Velez region, where one finds mountain areas such as Filabres,
where Cala Alto observatory is located. This services to remind us that
the area is blessed with the cleanest, and clearest, atmosphere in Europe.
Few places in Spain can boast such perfect integration between landscapes,
desolation and beauty, as is to be found in Tabernas Desert area.
Cuenca del Almanzora is another area that outstands for its white villages.
It is also famous for its marble quarries. This feature characterises
the landscape in the area.
