Area Guide - Properties for sale in Costa Almeria
With over 200 miles of spectacular coastline, volcanic mountains, towering
cliffs, marshes and wetlands; sand dunes, lagoons, pristine beaches
and Europe's only desert, the south-eastern Spanish province of Almeria
presents itself not only as a region of dramatic natural beauty, but
one featuring amongst the most diverse geography on the whole continent.
Whilst it is hugely popular as a tourist destination, Almeria is also
known as a part of the world in which genuine tranquillity can easily
be found in the areas that offer something approaching paradise for
lovers of the natural world. To this end, the remarkable Cabo de Gata
Natural Park should not be missed as a microcosm of the entire region,
and as an attraction that, in keeping with the rest of Almeria, offers
a huge range of activities to meet every taste.
The interior of the region is extraordinary, as a visit to the small
village of Tabernas amply illustrates. If the surrounding desert landscape
- reminiscent of Nevada, Utah or Arizona - seems eerily familiar,
it is because it has been used many times as the setting for 'Spaghetti'
Westerns. Located between the Sierra de Alhamilla and Sierra de Filabres
ranges, classics such as 'A Fistful of Dollars', 'The Magnificent
Seven' and 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' were shot here. A trip
to Tabernas, just 16 miles from Almeria city, is an absolute must
for movie buffs who will be thrilled at the original sets and accompanying
theme parks.
Evidence of many centuries of the compelling history of ancient cultures
including the Romans, Phoenicians and Visigoths can be found all over
Almeria. An insight into the lives of these occupying peoples can
be discovered at the excellent archaeological museum in the ancient
city of Almeria, and furthermore all over the city itself. Almeria
is dominated by the astounding Alcazaba, a gigantic late 10th Century
Moorish citadel, and the magnificent cathedral dating back to 1524.
The medieval old town is a joy to explore, reflecting the many ages
in Almeria's long history and providing some delightfully hidden away
cafés and bars at which to rest and refresh yourselves.
With a highly agreeable Mediterranean climate and equally satisfying
pace of life, many tourists head for beautiful Costa Almeria for beach-based
holidays in the sunshine. Such gorgeous coastal regions of Spain have
always attracted British tourists in great numbers, and now British
overseas property developers are showing a lot of interest in hitherto
'untapped' areas of the country. Costa Almeria is a wonderful and
endlessly stimulating place to relocate to permanently, or to purchase
a holiday or investment home in, and so escapetospain.co.uk is delighted
to present the opportunity to make such dreams become reality for
those that may have been thinking for some time about Spanish property
investment. Our extensive portfolio of Costa Almeria property includes
developments in such ideal locations as Almanzora, Almerimar, Albox,
Mojacar and many other top resorts in the region.
