Torrevieja
The fact that the World Health Organisation has declared the area
of southeast Spain in which it is situated as having the healthiest
climate in Europe has done Torrevieja no harm at all from a tourism
perspective. Averaging 320 days of sunshine per year and a temperature
of 20°C, the weather here is just about perfect, and also greatly
beneficial to sufferers of asthma, arthritis, rheumatism and respiratory
or dermatological conditions.
In direct contrast, Torrevieja also boasts spectacular nightlife,
with over a hundred bars and clubs open until the early hours. Most
are situated in the famous El Baluarte area in the La Punta district
of the city - one of the liveliest night-time zones in the whole of
Spain, with top class after-hours entertainment to rival anything
that Ibiza's San Antonio or similarly reputable party towns can offer.
A destination of varied appeal, then, Torrevieja is a fascinating
resort that is as popular with young tourists as it is with senior
citizens and families with young children. And yet, Torrevieja is
not a typical package holiday resort, and is as loved by Spanish holidaymakers
as it by the British. Whatever your tastes, Torrevieja has something
for everybody.
The beaches of Torrevieja, five in all (plus a number of small coves),
are quite superb, and gently lapped by clean, crystal clear seas.
Each one has earned prestigious Blue Flag status, awarded also in
recognition of excellent facilities in terms of safe bathing and watersports.
Families with children can pursue further aquatic thrills at Aquópolis,
an excellent waterpark with a wide range of spine-tingling rides.
Torrevieja's shopping areas are also very good and, refreshingly,
there are no chain stores or shopping centres to be seen, but plenty
of successful independent businesses vending just about everything
you could need at good value prices. A daily indoor market sells fresh
fruit, vegetables, meat and freshly-caught fish, but one of Spain's
largest open-air markets is held every Friday, where many kinds of
food, clothing, textiles and good quality souvenirs can be found cheaply.
As a resort destination to suit just about every kind of visitor or
inhabitant, it stands to reason that Torrevieja is an extremely popular
city in respect of property investment from overseas. Costa Blanca
property has been in the sights of British investors for over two
decades already, stimulating continuing development in resorts such
as Torrevieja. As such a diverse resort, the appeal of property in
Torrevieja is widespread amongst investors, and so usually sells very
quickly. If the health benefits, nightlife or any other aspects of
Torrevieja
appeal to you enough to consider property investment in the resort,
